Encounter is an interactive installation that enables visitors to interact with a virtual artificial ecosystem through both physical embodiment in an interactive projection zone, and augmented reality interface at a tangible station.
Artificial creatures are modeled as autonomous agents that have some ability to improvise their actions according to internal states and perceived external conditions.
Using spatial augmented reality and avoid cumbersome wired setups with HMD or controllers, we grant users the ability to physically explore with their bodies. Interaction with the virtual environment is supported by using devices such as the Microsoft Kinect. At tangible station, participants may impersonate as landscape planners via a tangible interface using tags and a screen-based augmented reality user interface.
